NEW Clear Mount Stamps! You won't want to miss this new Mini coming out January 5 2010

First.. When you receive your new Clear Mount Stamps the come in a case about the size of a normal DVD case.  They have the name of the stamp set on the side, or spine, as well as a picture of each stamp.  The space you will save will be much appreciated!!!
The rubber part of the stamps will come exactly as you have always received them.  What makes them a little different is that the label you normally get to put on the outside of the wood now will mount on top of the rubber.

The labels come on their own sheet, as before, however they are double sided.  If you look carefully you will see that there is a little slip right down the middle of the image.  This is your crucial piece.

You will remove the backing from your matching rubber stamp piece.. as you used to do. It looks and feels just like your normal stamps do when you are ready to attach them to your wood mount blocks.

Because I like having the label that I can see through the clear mount - my next step is to take my rubber stamp - I hold it by the edges - and then place it in the middle of the space I cleared on my page  You will notice that the space that was left when you removed the left and right pieces to expose the sentiment is exactly the right size of the piece of rubber for the matching stamp..... clever, hey!!!

Now... take the stamp - turn it sto the stamping surface is face up and check against the stamp that you have exposed.... just to make sure that you are matching your stamps correctly... :-)

Still holding the stamp - not touching the sticky side - you can position the stamp over the label and place down onto the exposed label. Press firmly for about 3-4 seconds and then carefully pull up the stamp. VOILA.... the label is attached to the back of the rubber.

If you have a little remaining plastic over the edge of the rubber stamp, you can trim it with a pair of paper snips.

Some people have said that they find the stamps stick better to the clear mount blocks when you don't put the label on, and they have decided not to adhere the label to the back of the rubber. For me.... I find that if I put my stamp onto my clear mount and gently apply pressure for about several seconds then my stamp sticks beautifully to my clear mount block.

When you store the stamps in the DVD case they will now stick to the case! So no sliding around - stuck firmly in their place!

To clean your new clear mount stamps you can spray stampin' mist directly on the stamp while it is still on the clear block and GENTLY rub on the Stampin' scrub (your washer and dryer).  You can also spray and wipe with a soft cloth or paper towel if you prefer.  You will want to be careful that you don't get StazOn remover or the wet baby wipes on the backing label as they can leave an oily residue and it will eventually be harder to stick them to your acrylic blocks.

I will be demonstrating these at the Open House in January.. Watch my SU website for the date and call in your reservation as soon as it is posted so there will be room.

Other items of interest:  We also have a NEW punch design and some new punches coming out in the new mini catalog!

3-D Items

My husband found this awesome 24" X 10" frame at Goodwill for $4.99 and he couldn't resist.  Using My Digital Studio I created the "Create & Inspire" card insert which is about 4" x 11".
It is difficult to see in the picture but the item at the right is a small votive holder with buttons attached and filled with coordinating ribbon pieces to go with the colors.

Double click the picture for a really close up view.

I used the gold 'painty pen' around the edges of the buttons to give them added pizzaz.  I also accented all the words with the gold pen to give it added enhancements.
The medallion has commercially purchased crystals to enhance it.  I used the Crystal Brads from Stampin up to embellish the middle of the little flowers on the plaque.  I also used Dazzling Diamonds on the Baroque Motif to give it more glitter.

I took the pieces of the little embosslit scroll and, using the Tombow glue, molded them to the frame edges then added some commercial crystals randomly around the curls.

I Wish I could keep this myself!  I will be entering it in a Pirates Gift Exchange with some Awesome Fellow Demonstrators.  I can only hope it measures up to the gift I end up with!
In the meantime, enjoy.

Family 2009

My sweet grand-daughter Katelin, Angie and sweet little Brooklyn and Kenny and Angie (son and daughter in law) in October in Owasso, Oklahoma!
It is always such a joy to visit with all of them. I wish we could spend more time with them all.!

Techniques: Heat and Stick

I used the Serene Snow Flakes on the left card and the Medallion on the right.
(the envelope is shown with the Medallion card)
The images were stamped with versamark, embossed with Heat N Stick then sprinkled with fine silver glitter and heat set again.
I used silver cord to hang the ornaments with. The Medallion was stamped on Night of Navy and totally cased from Jill Olsen, my upline. The Snowflakes were stamped and embossed on brilliant blue.
Do you want to make these cards? Call me to schedule your workshop with your friends.

Baby Cards!

So many babies this time of year! I wonder why ... mmmm must have been a cold spring!
I used Funa nd Fast Notes for both. The blue card has a "Genuine" brad from the silver brads and the pink one has the new large hardware with a pink button in the middle.
The colors are Very Vanilla, gable green, barely banana and bashful blue or pixie pink dsp.

Christmas

This card was featured early this month in a workshop.
I cut typing paper for the snow hills and sponged bashful blue for the different levels. I used the tree from Lovely as a Tree stamping and using the 'snow hills' as a mask.
I masked the moon with a post it and brayered the sky with bashful blue. I sponged the moon with so saffron.
Santa was stamped in night of navy using the stamp-a-ma-jig to be sure he was positioned right over the moon.
The Whisper White is layered over Handsome Hunter and I used BigShot Top Note on the inside for the sentiment and to write on.
If you want to make this card, call me and lets schedule a time with your friends to play. You will be amazed at how fast this goes together!

Masculine

Love this Masculine card. I used Nature Silhouettes stamped on Versamark then Chocolate Chip then embossed with clear embossing powder on Apricot Appeal.
I brayered Apricot appeal, pumpking Pie then Dusty durango over the image blocking out a space for the sun with a post it.
I stamped the Wood grain stamp over the chocolate chip dsp.

Christmas

I used a texturz embossing plate on Naturals White for the top of this card front and for the card itself, then, using a paint brush, I swiped the new Champagne Mist shimmer paint from the Holiday Mini on the raised areas.
The snowflake from Serene Snowflakes is stamped in Soft Suede then embellished with Champagne Mist paint.
The sentiment is from Holiday Best.
The dsp at the bottom of the card is from the Holiday Mini also.
This card was featured in October but can also be one of your cards you do at one of your workshops. I still have some days open this month. Call me to schedule a time with you and your friends.

All Occasion

I used Cottage Wall designer series paper on the front of the card. The card is Orchid Opulence.
The Asian Artistry image is colored with markers and stamped on the back side of the Vellum which gives it a softer look. It is layerd over Whisper White then Rich Razzleberry.
I put eyelets in the top to make it look almost like a notebook and discovered that I had some little Rhinestones that were almost Old Olive colored and fit right in the middle of the eyelet holes.
the Ribbon is Old Olive and I stamped Baroque Motifs over the design on the dsp. then stamped "Three Little Words..." on Whisper White.
I wrapped the ribbon around to the inside and used whisper white card stock, punched the lace border at the bottom and layered it with matching Cottage Wall dsp. The sentiments in the "Three Little Words" were stamped on whisper white and layered on the new label punch. I put a sentiment on each side of the label so, when it is time for a card I can choose what I need it for.
There are 6 options in this set so 3 labels are used and just need to be attached on the day it is used.
This was a feature card in October. If you would like to make it, let me know and we can schedule a workshop with some of your friends.

Christmas

this turned out so cute and was so quick.
I stamped the ornament on the card 2 or 3 times then once on a scrap of whisper white.
the one on the scrap was punched out with the new ornament punch or in garden green on the card on the left. I used one of the rubons for the green ornament. The one punched out on the card on the left is attached with dimensionals. I used a find point sharpie in green for the cord. the one on the right also has the new flocked dsp from the Holiday Mini catalog.
Both of these cards were featured in an earlier November class. If you want to make them, call me and schedule a class with you and your friends!

Christmas

The inside of this card was done on MDS (My Digital Studio) You almost have to touch the ribbon and bow to see if they are real or not.
I really love this new program. Check out an earlier post where I made a full card and added a picture.
The cards are so custom ANd only cost about $2.79 each. Ask me how to make one!
The envelope on this card is just stamped with the ornament stamp set in the Holiday Mini. I used a green fine sharpie for the 'string'.

Christmas Technique: Bleaching

This card is made on More Mustard and then layerd up with Night of Navy and Bravo Burgundy then night of navy again and more mustard.
The image was stamped using craft night of navy then embossed with glitter embossing powder. I scored both the bravo burgundy and the more mustard to give it an added touch and of course, wrapped it with gold cord. I wish the colors showed up better. On one I left it as stamped, the one on the right I used a paint brush and household bleach and painted the dove only.
To add one more thing, I glued half pearls to the 3 flowers.
This is another of the cards featured at the November classes. If you would like to make this card and others, call me to schedule your class today!

Card Insert

Inside using Baroque Motifs stamped with Versamark and embossed with glitter.
Peace, Love Joy is stamped in Night of Navy.
The insert is double scored all the way around and the lacy punch border is used at the bottom.
This is a card that is being featured at 2 of the November classes.
These classes are now full. If you call me we can schedule a class for you and your friends to make this card!

Gatefold Magic Window Marquee Card

I loved how this turned out with the little bee's.
This set is using the Just Buzzin By set.
When you slowly open the card the middle window opens to reveal yet a 3rd bee inside the little window.
This is scheduled for a class this month but the class is already full.
If you want to make it and see how really easy it is to line all these little windows up Super Easy, then call me and we can schedule a class with some of your friends. When things slow down a little.. maybe after the first of the year, I will put a tutorial with step by step pictures on the process. Jan Tink has a tutorial on her blog but it leaves out how to effortlessly and quickly cut out the circle for the whisper white top of the card.

Gatefold Magic Window Marquee Card

The inside as it is opening and then fully open revealing the little bee!

Tri-fold

This is one of the Christmas Cards we are making at one of my Workshops for November!
I love the dimensions on this card! I used Rubons, the new ornament punch from the Holiday Mini and the flocked red and white designer paper from the Holiday Mini. This really dresses up a card! and I don't see that it should be limited to Christmas cards!
If you want to make this card, call me and lets schedule an afternoon with your friends and make it!

tri-fold

I love the impact this card makes when opened! I guess it is the dimensions it has when opened and the 'wow's' it gets by the receipents.

Heard from the Heart and Flight of the Butterfly

This is a card that is featured in one of my November classes. Only because I have a birthday coming up and I am sure some of you have birthdays of friends this time of year, too.
I loved this layout I cased from Crystal French from Denver and I love using designer series paper on my cards. It just adds so much!
I used brocade blue as the card base, Very Vanilla for the inside and for the band on the front, Bella designer series paper.
If you want to make this card, please let me know and we will schedule a class for you and your friends.

Close up of the butterflies and a picture of the inside of the card. A mini envelope is included with this card just in case you want to add a gift card, check or cash.
The regular bigshot envelope is too small for a gift card. I was able to enlarge this with a simple fold before it was cut making the whole envelope just large enough for a gift card.
The butterflies were cut using the bigshot die then 'loosened up' by rolling between my fingers. I put a double layer of dimensionals just under the winds and bent the middle down and added some mini pearls for the body.
The inside of the card is scalloped at the bottom with the dsp under it and it is double scored around the edges to give it some extra finesse.

Christmas: MDS

Kylie and Zack just got married in September so this will be their first Christmas.
Also, in order for me to get certified I had to create a card using My Digital Studio new Crafting Technique.
I decided to honor Kylie and Zack and create a "Our First Christmas" card for them!

Thoughts and Prayers Card and Instructions

The finished card we made at the Brayer Workshop last week.

If you like this card or want to do a brayer workshop with your friends, please contact me and we can create one with any one of the new sets in the catalog.. don't have a catalog? I can fix that too! Please contact me via email or phone.

Supplies

You will need 2 pieces of Sahara Sand: 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 and 4 x 5 1/4. This second piece is the one you will be creating your card on. The larger one will be one of the layers on your finished card.

You can then layer the card on Night of Navy or Chocolate Chip using the standard 5 1/2 by 8 1/2 card size.

The inks you will be using are: Close to Cocoa, Versamark, Summer Sun, Lovely Lilac, Certainly Celery, Old Olive, Always Artichoke and Night of Navy.. all in the Classic Stampin' Up! ink pads.

You will also need a white gel pen, post it notes, 3/4 inch punch, sponges (2), and very vanilla hodgepodge hardware with linen thread.

/

Creating the Tree

This is a fun technique to enable you to emboss using the Classic ink.

First ink up the stamp using Versamark

then ink it up with your color, in this case Close to Cocoa Classic Ink

Then stamp it on your card stock and emboss with clear embossing powder!

Creating the Sun

Using the 3/4 inch punch, punch out 4 or 5 circles from a post it..

First of all, it is much easier to punch paper that is thicker than one thin piece of post it paper.

Second of all, you will get the circle really 'wet' in this process and may need to change them as you go.

Creating the Sky

Roll the brayer over the Summer Sun stamp pad and apply the color to the upper two-thirds of the card.

Softening the Sun

Remove the 'sun spot' post it and brayer lightly over the sun on the card. This takes away the hard edges and makes it a 'sun' instead of being Sarah Sand colored.

Adding some more sky . .

Again using the brayer, I lightly added some Lovely Lilac to the top of the card starting at the top edge and lightly spreading it down.

this adds more dimension to the sky and takes the starkness of the summer sun away, but still leaves the sunshine coming through

Using the Masking Technique

I tore a piece of post-it paper to make the skyline. Using the brayer, I added Certainly Celery to the bottom of the card.

Certainly Celery

The brayered landscape using Certainly Celery and establishing the horizon.
